EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT: Architecture Lecture & Field Trip!

I am pleased to announce that AOS is sponsoring a special two-part event featuring a presentation by Earl Parson, Architect-Extraordinaire (I think that's his title! ;) about one of his current projects, plus a field trip to Tennessee to check out the project in person!

Los Angeles-based Architect and Objectivist Earl Parson presents his recent work, with special emphasis on his latest project: a 2-bedroom home in East Tennessee, with breathtaking views of the Smoky Mountains.  In this stimulating lecture, he will describe how he transformed his client's desires and requirements into an exciting, yet affordable, buildable design.  Situated on 28 acres, the home features exposed timber beams, an intimate mezzanine overlooking the living room, and views of the rolling countryside from every room.  On Saturday, drive up to Tennessee and join us for a guided tour of the construction site, led by the Architect.  Earl will show the house, describe the site strategy, and explain the challenges of bringing the drawings to life.  In addition, the clients have many horses and donkeys on the property who love kids, and pony rides can be available if there is interest.
The lecture will take place on Thursday, September 9, beginning at 7:00 at our usual gathering place, Gordon Biersch Restaurant in BUCKHEAD.

The field trip will be on Saturday, September 11, from noon - 3pm (it takes about three hours to travel from Atlanta to the project site).

We will have more details about this special event at the next Social on August 17! A sign-up page will be posted on the website soon (and I'll let you know when it's available). There may be a need to cap the field trip attendees, so be sure to sign up promptly when the sign-up form is available. Friends and family and children are welcome to attend the field trip; adults only at the lecture, please.

Thanks, Earl, for proposing this idea for a fun event!
